The Weeknd releases new visual for ‘Save Your Tears’
The Weeknd has released the video for his After Hours album cut, “Save Your Tears.” I feel him, honestly.
While in his video for “Too Late,” we saw the singer’s head decapitated and then put on someone else’s body, in “Save Your Tears,” Abel Tesfaye has endured another physical transformation—this time, apparently getting a huge amount of cosmetic work done on his face. Wearing the red suite – this time bedazzled, the singer performs at some sort of club, in front of an audience who are all wearing masquerade masks.
While singing and dancing around the audience, he looks like he’s having fun until he starts dancing with a girl and forces her to put a gun to his head. He doesn’t make her shoot. He then ends the performance with a gun to his head and once the trigger is pulled, confetti comes out, confusing the audience who eventually claps.
Last March, just a couple weeks after COVID-19 forced the US’s economy to shutter, Abel’s album After Hours debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with—at that point—the biggest week of 2020, selling 444,000 equivalent album units. It was his first release since 2018’s My Dear Melancholy EP. It broke numerous records and shocked the world when it wasn’t nominated for a Grammy this year.
