Basi & Drew Banga release new banger ‘PUMPFAKE’
Oakland newcomer Basi joins Bay Area go-to producer Drew Banga for “PUMPFAKE”, the new single for upcoming smooth 5- track project called “Shake The Scene”

Drew’s recent credits include Kamaiyah’s “Windows” featuring Quavo & Tyga – as well as a feature in Toro Y Moi’s new album “Soul Trash” – plus he’s been known to work with big artists early on in their careers. He produced Kamaiyah’s “I’m On”, Calebrate’s “Bankrobber”, Rexx Life Raj & Ymtk’s “What’s Up”, 1-O.A.K.’s (“Lost & Found” co-produced with Kuya Beats and BossLife Big Spence’s album, which includes the “10k” remix featuring G-Eazy.
Obasi creates for the people who believe in their own power and in their ability to create the conditions they need to thrive. “I believe in the transformative power of music and I want mine to be a vehicle for change and self – actualization,” says Davis, a 23 year-old Hip Hop artist and designer from Oakland California.
He named his brand “Basi” because he is a truth seeker. He creates to pierce the veil and reveal the facade, while still retaining his spirit.
As a child, Obasi began his creative journey writing and performing poetry around the country and eventually the world. Throughout high school, Basi traveled to places like; Sacramento, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Calgary, London, and Paris, to perform his poetry. After becoming the youth poet laureate for the city of Oakland in 2013, Obasi went on to the University of Wisconsin Madison where he began transforming his skill with words into music.
As a recent college graduate, Obasi works as an educator in Oakland while pursuing a career in music and design. He believes his purpose is to teach and educate the masses about the lessons he’s learned through lived experience.
Currently, Basi is gearing up for his first official release, an EP with renowned Oakland artist and producer, Drew Banga. The EP, titled “Shake The Scene”, will be released through Text Me Records and will feature some of Basi’s favorite collaborators and musicians from Oakland to Chicago.
